Austin Real Estate Broker
If youre hunting for real estate in Austin, Texas, it can be important to employ the talents of an Austin real estate broker. Why? Simple. The business of buying and selling real estate is complicated and fraught with potential pitfalls. When you work with a broker, youll have a trained professional at your side from start to finish, allowing you to work with confidence and feel comfortable knowing that youre getting the right information and the right deal.
Once your Austin real estate broker has helped you locate the right place to put down roots, youre sure to discover that Austin is a uniquely Texan city that welcomes a wide variety of people and lifestyles. The known history of Austin began with the habitation of the area by nomadic Native American tribes most notably the Comanches and Apaches. In the mid-1830s, a settler forged the town of Waterloo out of the landscape. This humble town played host to Mirabeau Lamar, the vice president of Texas, in 1938. Fortuitously, Lamar soon became president of Texas and was involved in the search for a site for the new state capital (which, even without a location, had been named Austin). Waterloo was duly investigated for suitability, then chosen to become the capital city. A team of 200 men from Houston was immediately dispatched to turn the town into a city.
At this early time, the capital grew prosperously to a population of 850. When Lamar was challenged for political power by Sam Houston, however, the seat of government was moved and Austins population fell by 75%. In 1844, Anson Jones became the Texas president, and the area was annexed to the United States. Austin was once again named the capital city.
This colorful history resulted in a colorful city even by Texas standards. The population stands close to three quarters of a million, and it is currently the third-fastest growing city in the United States. Austin has also made Money magazines list of Best Places to Live in 2006 and MSNs list of Green American cities. The Austinites who earned these lauds include a wide mix from blue-collar workers to high-tech professionals to government employees to a university population of students and professors. Austin is also home to a thriving music community that has helped give the city the title of Live Music Capital of the World.
Across the board, one thing that unites Austinites is backing of the popular slogan, Keep Austin Weird. This unofficial (but much loved) statement refers to the eclectic mashup of cultures and lifestyles present in the city as well as to a local commitment to keep local businesses alive and heavy commercialization in check.
Jay Carter and Michele Kim Carter are not your typical real estate agents. They believe in working hard for their clients, and then re-investing their free time and money into worthy causes such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Austin Junior Forum. In the summer of 2007, Jay and Michele collected donations of children's clothing here in Austin, and then personally delivered them to orphanages in El Salvador. http://www.livinginaustin.com
